Boom Boom
A bomb explodes
Skulls shatters
Bellies cut open
And fury in our hearts awoken
The eight legged freak crawls
Slowly and stealthy
Envelops our being
Blowing out a candle
And we say
He died of a disease
Of broken limbs
Of first wails
And first steps
To lifting our scrolls
Of broken limbs
Hospitals, infections
And vaccinations
From grey hairs
Walking sticks
And the nailed coffin
Life becomes an apparition
Slipping through our fingers
Darkness falls on us
And we weep
Into sorrow deep
We fall
Mumbling ang grumbling
Afraid to ask
The one who knows all
WHY?
For Alex
And his starched shirts
For his smile that lights up his ebony
For his love for education
For memories and friendship built
For the five year struggle
Reduced to paper
And now to dust
For from dust we came
And back to it
Shall we return
RIP ALEX ISIGUZO CHIEMELA
B.TECH MICROBIOLOGY (FUTO)
DIED 16TH DECEMBER, 2015
Alex was a gentle soul. In appearance and
nature. He could not be seen without his school bag and loved to tuck in his
shirts. Always apt for lectures and practicals. And when he was ready to show
the world what he was made of, death came in form of sickness. He was loved by
us all. If Alex was quiet in public, he was definitely a noise maker on
WhatsApp . Always in one banter or the other, professing that he would be the next to get married. He
left behind family, friends and memories that would keep him alive in our
hearts.
Alex, till we meet behind the veil to part no
more, sleep well in the Lord.
