AkeOnTheRocks

In line with the dreams of making Owerri a hub for literature and arts via Lyriversity, Chika Jones Onwusoanya and I decided to volunteer for Ake Arts and Book Festival (AABF)2015. As luck would have it we got selected and here I am in the city that houses the famous Olumo rock-ABEOKUTA
Travelling to Abeokuta from Portharcourt was a journey filled with nostalgia and mixed feelings but now my feet has laid rest here I am glad I made the trip.

AABF 2015- Engaging the fringe is the third year of this cultural event and has its director as Lola Shoneyin, the author of the novel, ‘The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives’ and other poetry collections. LS is a pretty and fun person to be around and i am looking forward to see her 'serious' side before i can draw further conclusions. AABF this year is anticipated to be activity filled- Book chats, short story readings, art exhibitions, movie screenings and about 80 guests from the literature and arts community all over the world. I cant wait to hang around Nnedi Okorafor, EC Osondu, Imani Da Sylva, Chris Abani, Siphiwo Mahala, Tendai Huchu, Dami Ajayi, Efe-Paul Azino Ekow Duker and a host of others.

You can get more information  here at Akefest2015. I do believe this experience would be mapped in my brain as cherished and i am grateful that i was able to make this. All thanks to Family, chika, Fola Lawal. Oh yes! I also met some of my friends from the splendid literature creative writing class 2014 also volunteering - Ope and Afope.
I have to lay my weary back as I await more work tomorrow, hopefully Olumo Rock won't fall before then.
